NZ Team - Ko Tātou Katoa Bracelet
Recovered from the waters off John O’Groats, the most northerly town in Scotland, an old black fishing net has been transformed into something worth wearing.
The New Zealand Team partnered with Behaviour Change Cornwall; who removed this discarded fishing net from the ocean and had them hand woven into bracelets by young Cornish artisans. They make and sell these bracelets to fund the amazing work they do and to raise awareness about plastic in our oceans. We felt this aligned strongly with the spirit of the New Zealand Team and the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
The bracelet is black, because this is the colour of the fishing net found at John O'Groats, and the marine grade stainless steel clasp is engraved with Ko Tātou Katoa, The Fern is All of Us; beautifully packaged in an NZ Team box with a story card inside.
These bracelets will be sold at NZ House in Glasgow, our small way of giving back to the host nation. We have a limited number available for sale on this site, and once they are gone, they are gone.
